Tara J. Masimer is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor and the assistant to the M.F.A. Director for the Dance Department at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA. Masimer has spent the past 13 years performing, educating, creating, and residing in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Masimer has continually taught as faculty and guest faculty within the bachelor’s degree of dance programs at Amsterdam University of the Arts in Amsterdam, NL, CODARTS School of the Arts in Rotterdam, NL, and at the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts in Amsterdam/Groningen, NL, as well as open commercial studio spaces. As a movement practitioner, creator, and performance artist, Masimer’s research is driven about the effects and interplay of culture, heritage, and history. She is curious about what the human experience has on/with the body, intersections of body politics, dance, and performance. Masimer completed her Master of Fine Arts through Hollins University three-summer low residency program in 2018 where she had the opportunity of studying in Frankfurt Germany.
